An HDMI or USB-C port is soldered directly to the console’s main board. Replacing one means removing the damaged port without lifting the tiny pads underneath, then soldering a new one in its place. Many shops send this work out, turn it away or charge a premium for it.

HDMI port, charge port, screen and drift repairs don’t touch your storage. Hard drive replacement and system software reinstalls do erase local data. Turn on cloud saves (PlayStation Plus, Xbox cloud saves or Nintendo Switch Online) if you can, and we’ll tell you before any repair that affects your data.
Is it worth repairing my console instead of buying a new one?
